Vegas Day two

Hello all Dr Pepper lovers! Tomorrow marks the beginning of the 2006 Dr Pepper Bottler's Convention in beautiful Las Vegas, NV, and Museum staff members Jack, Jennie, Mary Beth, and Jack's wife Linda are here to report on all the happenings. Yesterday and today were spent in hard labor getting the Company Store ready for the extreme shopping that is going to happen tomorrow, and as this was my (Mary Beth) first venture into the world of retail, I must say it is not often in my life I have worked as hard as I did today. Tomorrow the convention officially begins, so there will be many pics to come of the success of the Museum at this very special Bottler's Convention. Let me say though that the Wynn, where we are staying, thinks it is appropriate to charge us $11.99 for 24 hours of internet access, and the ONLY reason I paid for it is because I had a paper due, so to all readers thank Latin American History class for this update of recent happenings. The point is that I may not be able to update again until we get back, but be reassured that there will be lots to come, whether it is now or later. So since I am going to squeeze every PENNY out of my 24 hours, check out the pics so far:

100th Birthday Party!!

On Saturday, September 16, the Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company building turned 100 years old!! There was a big celebration at the Museum, and all visitors were admitted free of charge!! It was a huge success, and we had many volunteers, staff, local, and out-of-town visitors that were in attendance. The Heart of Texas Sweethearts and the Baylor chapter of Chi service sorority sent many of their members out to help, and it really made the day so much more exciting! Old Doc was also there to take pictures with all the guests, and he was a HUGE hit!! Check out the pics below of the fun time had by all!!

100th Birthday Block Party!!

Last night, as a precursor to the event that is happening RIGHT NOW at the Museum, we held a block party for the employees of our neighboring businesses and their families, and it was so much fun! There was food, HUGE blow-up Dr Pepper cans, and free Museum visits for all! Check out the pictures of last night's event, and if you have been trying to decide if you should come today or not, just imagine this times about 200, and that is the fun that is happening RIGHT NOW AT THE DR PEPPER MUSEUM!! We would be so happy to see you for games, cake, freshly-cooked sausage, free admission, refreshing soda fountain favorites, and a wide variety of Dr Pepper items in the gift shop!

Texas Secretary of State Comes to the DPM!

It's not everyday that politicians come to the museum and talk about voting and the use of new voting machines. That's right Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams held a press conference to familiarize the public with the new electronic voting machines. He encouraged everyone to vote and be aware of local, state and national politics. Below are some pics we took during the event. Check out his bio:
